Welcome to The Pop Laval Collection

During his professional lifetime from 1910 to 1965, Claude C. “Pop” Laval captured over 100,000 images of the dynamic lives and historical progress being forged by people here in the Central Valley and nearby mountains. In 1914, he was the first in this region to use one of the new-fangled movie cameras, recording many hours for Pathe and Metrotone newsreel companies. Every conceivable category of endeavor was photographed by this master craftsman. Now his great granddaughter Elizabeth is continuing her late father’s passion of restoring and displaying Laval’s life work.
